Sewer Line Service
Sewer lines can begin to leak or get clogged and some of the most common issues that occur are sewer lines obstructed by tree roots, line breaks, out-dated or corroded pipes, or pipe bellies. The fastest and most reliable way to properly handle a sewer line issue is by taking a closer look at the problem. Since sewer lines are underground we like to do sewer line inspection via sewer camera. Utilizing a sewer camera for a sewer line inspection can make the difference in a few hundred dollars in repairs versus thousands of dollars in repairs. A thorough sewer line inspection not only saves money by providing an accurate diagnosis but it also allows us to quickly prepare an appropriate plan of action to resolve the issue causing sewage problems for you in your home or your commercial building or can help us to stop any future plumbing problems in their tracks.
The plumbing system for your property is connected to the main sewer line underground that connects to the city in most cases. Since these lines are out of sight, out of mind you will not know you have a sewer line issue until your home or property is being flooded with wastewater or sewage. By this point, you have a plumbing emergency on your hands.
Preventative plumbing
The best way to avoid a sewer line emergency is to have an annual maintenance or check up performed on your underground piping system.
Are you buying a new home?
A sewer line inspection is one of the best ways to get a good look at the home you are looking to purchase and to save yourself thousands of dollars on unforeseen issues down the road.
If you are not sure about getting an inspection on the sewer line system performed on your current home, a home you want to purchase or a commercial property here are some signs to look out for that may help you make the best choice for you.
- Large trees in the yard
- Water backing up
- Houses built before 1984
- Obvious movement or shifting of the ground on the property
- Patches of bright green grass
If the property has large trees you can bet that their root systems are as large and wide as their canopies. Notice where the trees are located on the property and know where the sewer lines are running.
If you see water backing up inside the house or not draining quickly this is a red flag for drain and/or sewer line issues.
If the home was built in 1984 or before that year the piping system is very likely made up of materials that are no longer used in the industry and are likely to cause big problems if they are not updated or at the very least, inspected.
Houston is known for its movement and shifting soils. If the ground around the home or building has moved significantly this could be a strong indicator that there are problems with the sewer pipes. The easiest way to detect ground movement is to keep an eye out for sink holes or mounding around the sidewalks, walkways, or driveway.
Finally, if you find bright green, lush patches of grass on the property in suspicious areas of the yard there is a very high likelihood of a sewer line leak. The stuff that flows through your sewer lines are natural fertilizers that create accelerated plant growth.
